TCM Acupuncture for Pain Relief

Acupuncture is a powerful, fast acting treatment for pain of any type. With more and more research proving the benefits of acupuncture for pain relief, acupuncture is fast becoming the alternative medicine option of choice for pain relief. For over 2,000 years Acupuncture has been the main method of pain relief in China, and is now popular world-wide.

Acupuncture works by changing energy flow in the body. When your body is out of balance, energy becomes blocked and you experience pain and disease. Your body in balance has free-flowing energy so you feel healthy and free from pain.

Acupuncture can help with almost any health condition because it corrects the underlying imbalances that are causing your symptoms. Millions have experienced pain relief and freedom from disease through correctly applied acupuncture.

Margaret's First Experience with Acupuncture for Pain Relief

"I had no idea what this ancient therapy could do when I first visited an acupuncturist in 1999 for own health maintenance. After several treatments for chronic fatigue syndrome, I recall asking my acupuncturist if he could treat my low back pain. He laughed and said ‘what do you think most of the patients are coming in for?’ My acupuncturist cured my low back pain in 3 treatments! My life was changed in less than 2 weeks! My low back pain was a serious chronic pain that kept me from exercising for three years straight. I felt my low back pain all day long every day of the week. I had tried everything to cure it - everything but acupuncture!

I had told myself that whatever therapy eliminated my low back pain was the therapy I would study. True to my word, I enrolled in acupuncture school and now have my own patient success stories."

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is an integral part of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Traditional Chinese Medicine is a complete system of health care that has been practiced for over 2,000 years in countries like China, Japan, India and Tibet. Just as modern medicine is the most popular health care system in America, Chinese Medicine has been the most popular total health care system in China for over 2,000 years.

What makes acupuncture different from modern Western medicine?

Western medicine often uses drugs that mask the symptoms but do not fix the underlying problem. Once you stop taking the drug, the pain or symptoms of illness return. Acupuncture not only treats symptoms but encourages your body to heal itself so that symptoms do not return. It does this without drugs, surgery, or side effects.

How Does Acupuncture Work?

Acupuncture works by stimulating energy flow through pathways in your body called meridians. Acupuncture meridians are channels that carry life-force (or energy called ‘qi’) to nourish body cells and tissue - similar to rivers that carry water to nourish the surrounding plants and animals. Your life force travels through the meridian pathways in every area of your body, nourishing every part of you. When your qi is flowing well, all of your body parts are being nourished which helps them to function their very best.

Blockage Causes Disease

When your qi flow becomes blocked, disease develops. Imagine a blockage in the flow of a river. Plants would not receive life giving water and would suffer poor health. Even worse, stagnant pools of water would form allowing disease carrying organisms to multiply. Meridian blockage works the same way inside your body. Meridian blockages prevent life force from reaching all of your tissue. These energy blockages create pain or disease.

Acupuncture needles move stagnant energy by changing the electrical flow through the meridians. Acupuncture treatments unblock your meridians so your qi circulates in a smooth, free-flowing and balanced way. Acupuncture also regulates your entire body by increasing qi flow. This strengthens your energy system to promote self-healing and faster results. You experience pain relief, increased vitality, and good health in quick, easy treatments.

What is a Treatment Like?

After determining your underlying energy imbalances using a thorough intake and examination, very specific acupuncture points are selected. For treatment, most acupuncture points are between the elbows and wrists, knees and ankles. You will remain completely clothed for most acupuncture treatments.

As you lie comfortably, sterile, single-use medical-grade acupuncture needles are inserted into the selected acupuncture points. Acupuncture needles are many times smaller than those used in a doctor’s office. Acupuncture needs look as thin as a single piece of hair. Most people feel nothing (no pain or discomfort) when a needle is placed. People often report a pleasant relaxation within a few minutes and many drift into a light sleep. Needles are retained from 25-45 minutes depending on your condition.

How Many Treatments Will It Take?

Your pain can be resolved quickly with acupuncture. You should notice immediate improvements as the acupuncture treatments restore your body to balance. Often pain is significantly reduced during the first treatment, many times within the first few minutes of treatment. Other health symptoms may also lessen as you notice improved energy levels, deeper sleep, and better digestion. Removing energy blockages in the area of pain benefits the entire body as the total flow of life force is improved.

Don't Wait to Treat Your Pain

Don't wait for your pain to develop further before seeking relief with acupuncture. Pain and injury resolve more quickly when treated early. If untreated, your current level of pain may increase over time, affecting your range of motion, movement, and posture.

People who receive acupuncture maintenance treatments notice they visit the doctor less frequently. Preventing illness is a bonus that comes with receiving regular acupuncture sessions. By moving your body’s qi, your energy has a constant flow, remaining balanced so that illness has a more difficult time becoming established. A regular schedule of acupuncture ensures that your immune system stays strong, your energy levels peak, and vibrant health is yours!
